The 4th Test saw an exciting victory for the touring side, winning by 12 runs against Newton Tracey at The Lawn. This means that the five test series is level at one-all with one to play, although with heavy rain forecast for Sunday the cricket element of tour may now be over.
Following lunch at The Coach & Horses in Buckland Brewer, bus driver Mr Nourse took 25 minutes to turn the bus around resulting in the squad arriving at the game precisely 25 minutes late for the scheduled kick-off. As a result the match reverted to a 40-over Pro League format and Abbey Old Boys amassed a very respectable 236-8, with fifties from Ronnie & James and handy runs from Noursey, Andy Hulse, Colin & Keith. Less handy runs came from the Two Newbys who lasted one more ball than there were Newbys on the pitch for a collective contribution of bugger all.
Skippered shrewdly by Phil Roberts, Newton seemed to be behind the clock until some late big hitting from Newton's Graham Moore threatened an upset. However thanks to Graham first running out their own top scorer and then himself victory was secured, with Phil Nourse the pick of the bowlers.
Match scorecard and further analysis from the TMS team to follow when we get chance to stand on top of the minibus and wave the mobile phone around to get a signal...
