Happy Birthday Robbo!

Congratulations to Robbo on the occasion of his 60th birthday which is being celebrated today.

Seen here on his debut for Bradwell CC in 1894, Philip Worrell Hutton Bradman Roberts first played for the Abbey Road Building Society in 1907 and he remembers the early Abbey tours as being lengthy affairs due to the slower speed achieved by the tour stagecoach. He never drove that either but took his customary seat up with the driver, freezing his nuts off on the early morning gallop to Chittlehampton.

In recent years Robbo has become a reborn tourist after some effective resoldering work on the NHS. He will no doubt be celebrating his sixtieth birthday with a bottle of Bud to wash down his roasted peacock and vegan chips before his next moonlighting apppointment as popular childrens entertainer Uncle Fester.

Phil's popularity is not just with the kids however, as shown by his well-merited award as Top Tourist over the 15 Abbey Tours, 1994-2009. Everyone who knows him will wish him a very happy birthday and all the very best for the future, whilst looking forward to seeing him as part of Tour 16 in the summer!

Robbo as we always picture him... wandering aimlessly around a cricket field whilst the rest of us scoff the sandwiches...
