The 2010 CAMRA Good Beer Guide has announced the inclusion of several of tours favourite pubs but strangely no mention of The Bell, or indeed The Kings Arms. Perhaps Scoogy can explain...?
Nominated pubs which we have been known to frequent are The Beaver in Appledore, The Rolle Quay in Barnstaple, The Old Court House in Chulmleigh, The Clinton Arms in Frithelstock and The Coach & Horses in Buckland Brewer.
Pubs in the guide which we have still to visit include The Panniers Wetherspoons in Barnstaple, The Black Horse in Braunton, The Castle Inn in Combe Martin, The New Inn in Goodleigh, The Torrington Arms in Torrington, The Tally Ho! in Hatherleigh, The Hunters Inn in Heddon Valley, The Old Market Inn in Holsworthy, The Grove Inn in Kings Nympton, The Chichester Arms in Mortehoe, The Bell Inn in Parkham, The Laurels Inn in Petrockstowe, The Town Arms Hotel in South Molton and The Red Barn in Woolacombe.
It might take another 15 years to work through the list...
Six local breweries were also noted, as follows: Barum of Barnstaple; Clearwater of Torrington; Country Life of Abbotsham; Forge of Hartland; Jollyboat of Bideford; and Wizard of Ilfracombe.

ReplyDeleteThe Bell is most certainly in the guide. The Kings Arms was not up to scratch for GBG entry in my opinion. Nor was the Joiners. The Ale and Cider house prolly has the best kept beer in Bideford now.
