It is with very great pleasure that we report the 49th birthday of our unquestionable all-time Top Tourist, Phil Nourse.

"Two of them went over the church", Phil explains, "my third was hit
into the Torridge, the fourth fell just short of Cornwall and the fifth ball surprised a passing flock of geese...but the last dot ball was a classic!"
into the Torridge, the fourth fell just short of Cornwall and the fifth ball surprised a passing flock of geese...but the last dot ball was a classic!"
One of only three remaining tour ever-presents, Phil is perhaps the main reason why the tour has carried on into it's fifteenth year, his drive - and driving - getting us back together each year. Over the years he has amassed more than 500 runs and he is also the tour's leading wicket taker with 47 victims. His remarkable ability to spot turn in every pitch we play on - then fail to deliver any - is only matched by his cannily honed jug avoidance skills, his tour highest score of 49 being a case in point.
One of Phil's key words is "traditional", such as the "traditional" pre-tour Tuesday drink, the "traditional" tour quiz and, of course, the "traditional" need for him to have days off whenever we play at Westleigh or Chittlehampton. He is also, I am pleased to say, traditionally good company - convivial, entertaining and in every respect very much the embodiment of all of the good things which our tours are about.
On behalf of the 2009 Tour Party and all those that have enjoyed your company in past years, we wish you a very happy birthday and look forward to buying you your birthday beer in July!
