Abbey Cricket Tour RIP

Sad news has been received that Tour 2011 has been cancelled due to insufficient numbers. Perhaps not a great surprise as many of us get older and drift a little further from peak physical fitness but sad nevertheless.

No further updates to this Tour Blog are planned but the Tour Facebook site remains live & kicking so all is not totally closed off and hopes for future reunion events remain. Until then, from the Editor, it's been great fun, I wish you all the best for the future and I'll hope to bump into most of you at some time in the not too far distant future.

All the very best - Seamo

Pub Shock For Mick!

Mick will not be pleased as The Swan pub - so convenient next door to the tour hotel - has been taken over and reinvented as The Riverbank Bistro!

One suspects a change of ambience - and clientele - as a result!

Santander CC Website Launched

For those interested, there is a new Santander CC website covering the activities of the MK-based club. It has been set-up under the auspices of  Play Cricket so existing Play Cricket members should be able to logon and request membership of the Santander CC site. Non-members will need to register with Play Cricket first.

Santander CC

Fixtures, results and general news is promised plus statistics so one assumes that PKD is still alive & well!!!

For the avoidance of doubt, the tour will forever remain the Abbey Cricket Tour and rebranding will not be occurring!

North Devon LocAle

A LocAle initiative has been launched in North Devon, designed to recognise pubs that sell beers brewed locally. A LocAle beer is one that is brewed within 30 miles so that includes beers such as Cotleigh and Dartmoor, but it is also interesting to note that there are now no less than seven breweries in North Devon itself :-
  • Barum (Pilton, Barnstaple)
  • Baskervilles (Yelland, Fremington)
  • Clearwater (Torrington)
  • Country Life (Abbotsham, Bideford)
  • Forge (Hartland, Bideford)
  • Jollyboat (Bideford)
  • Wizard (Ilfracombe)
Still some to try then before we pack up tour for good!
